A three piece bonnet with a flared brim, the Flora Francine first appeared in the American fashion plates in 1854. The Flora Francine initially created a tiny circle around the wearer's face. As the decade progressed, the brim grew creating a larger circle or oval around the wearer's face. From the side, the bonnet appears "C" shaped.

Flora Francine is available with three different shapes for mid 1850's to early 1860's impressions. Flora Francine 1 (1854-1855) is a very tiny bonnet forming a small circular halo around the face. Flora Francine 2 is a horizontal oval for 1856-1857 impressions. Flora Francine 3 (1858-60) has a circle shaped brim. The pattern includes all three shapes with a 30 page instruction booklet complete with detailed illustrations.
