A crossband helps keep a mid-19th century bonnet from falling off of the back of the head. Many of the extant bonnets in our collection have this fabric covered wire and the brim headpiece join.

Our crossbands are wire encased in velvet ribbon. The wire clings to the hair to better secure the bonnet. You may pin or stitch the crossband at the headpiece brim join. We prefer pinning for adjustments to different hairstyles.

We currently have crossbands available in black velvet. Please email us for other options.
