Louisa Ann Coal Scuttle Bonnet Pattern 1839-1845
In the late 1830s the crown of the poke bonnet lowered and eventually the bonnet achieved a very straight look from the side. The bonnet was known as the coal scuttle as it looked like a coal scoop.
The Louisa Ann recreates the 1840's blocked crown coal scuttle bonnet. The style is marked by the horizontal line from the crown to the brim. The bonnet creates the classic 1840's horseshoe shaped silhouette. The Louisa Ann is available in four different depths to span the 1840's and a round version for early 1840's impressions. The pattern includes a 20 page instruction booklet complete with detailed illustrations.
